CoMaps is a new, community-driven map application designed to offer easy, offline navigation for travelers, drivers, hikers, and cyclists while prioritizing user privacy and open-source collaboration. Created in response to concerns regarding governance, transparency, and potential conflicts of interest within existing projects, CoMaps aims to provide a truly open and transparent navigation experience. The project’s vision centers around creating free, open, and privacy-respecting navigation tools that are community-driven, without tracking or advertising. By focusing on user needs and adhering to principles of freedom and transparency, CoMaps seeks to establish itself as an independent alternative, fostering a collaborative environment for navigating the world.
