Owncast: Self-host your live videos & web chats! Take control of your content by running your own server with Owncast, compatible with existing streaming software.
The surge in online activity during 2020, fueled by remote work and social distancing, saw an explosion of live streaming platforms like Facebook Live, YouTube Live, Instagram, and Twitch. These platforms offered simple solutions for individuals to share their talents and connect with audiences through interactive live streams and chat features. Recognizing the need for a more self-contained solution, I envisioned a platform similar to “Owncast,” allowing users to independently host high-quality live streams with integrated chat functionality, mirroring the experience found on popular streaming services but offering greater control and independence.
