TeXworks aims to provide a user-friendly TeX environment for Windows, Linux, macOS, and other X11 systems, mirroring the popular TeXShop application. Built with cross-platform tools like Qt, TeXworks focuses on PDF output using pdfTeX and XeTeX engines, simplifying the workflow by directly converting marked-up text files into readily usable PDFs. An integrated viewer, leveraging Poppler, allows users to easily view and navigate typeset documents, including source/preview synchronization through SyncTeX technology. This eliminates the need for external viewers like Acrobat or xpdf. The project’s goal is to make TeX accessible to a wider audience by offering a streamlined and intuitive user experience across different operating systems.
