Explore Terasology, an open-source Java project for procedural terrain generation & rendering. Developed by Benjamin Glatzel, it uses LWJGL and aims for efficient techniques.
Terasology, initially conceived as Blockmania by Benjamin “begla” Glatzel, is an open-source project focused on researching procedural terrain generation and efficient rendering techniques in Java using the LWJGL library. The engine employs a block-based voxel approach similar to Minecraft, enabling dynamic and expansive game worlds. Initially intended as a tech demo, Terasology evolved into a full game concept with the involvement of Anton “small-jeeper” Kireev and Rasmus “Cervator” Praestholm. The project aims to create a robust and scalable platform for developing large-scale, procedurally generated games.
