Open Pencil

Open Pencil is an open-source design editor capable of handling .fig and .pen files. This powerful tool boasts built-in AI functionality, allowing users to create and modify nodes based on instructions through its extensive AI toolkit (over 90 tools) connected to endpoints like OpenRouter, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google AI, Z.ai, and MiniMax. Furthermore, Open Pencil provides a fully programmable environment with a Vue SDK, Command Line Interface, XPath queries, and Figma Plugin API. It facilitates real-time collaboration via WebRTC for P2P connections, along with features such as auto layout, CSS Grid (Yoga Web Assembly), JSX/Tailwind design-to-code export, token outputs, and component-oriented code workflows. Users can inspect documents, convert between formats, analyze design elements, and extract design tokens. The software is available on macOS, Windows, and Linux, also supports running as a Progressive Web App (PWA).
