Media Player Classic – Black Edition (MPC-BE) is a derivative of both MPC and MPC-HC, introducing updated player controls while retaining core functionality. Unlike its predecessors, MPC-BE includes features like a video preview tooltip when hovering the mouse cursor over the seek bar, similar to those found on platforms such as YouTube and Dailymotion. However, MPC-BE doesn’t include LAV filters by default, which can impact performance, particularly with high-resolution files or newer codecs, especially on less powerful hardware. This makes MPC-HC potentially more efficient for decoding in these scenarios.
