Molly: A standalone Signal app for Android. Explore this open-source alternative for secure messaging and communication with Molly.
Molly is an Android app that provides a Signal fork, offering users the ability to set a passphrase for local message database security, a feature removed from Signal with the introduction of file-based encryption. Molly seamlessly connects to the Signal server, allowing users to communicate with their existing Signal contacts. It updates every two weeks with the latest features and bug fixes from Signal. Like Signal, Molly utilizes Google’s proprietary code for certain functionalities. The project also includes Molly-FOSS, a community initiative aimed at making the app fully open-source and free. Users should review Signal’s Terms & Privacy Policy before signing up to use Molly.
