MetaCrawler, originally developed in 1994 at the University of Washington by Erik Selberg and Oren Etzioni, was a metasearch engine that combined results from major sources like Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and Ask.com. Initially offering searches for web content, images, video, news, business directories, and even audio, MetaCrawler aimed to provide comprehensive search capabilities. In 2014, it was integrated into InfoSpace’s search engines. Later, in 2017, MetaCrawler relaunched as an independent search engine, continuing its mission of aggregating results from multiple sources.
