Hugging Face is launching its first major project: HuggingChat, an open-source alternative to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Built upon the Open Assistant.io project, which debuted in December as a competitor to ChatGPT, HuggingChat aims to provide users with a similar chat interface, offering capabilities like code generation, email drafting, and even rap lyric composition. A publicly available version of the HuggingChat interface has been accessible since mid-April 2023, allowing users to experiment with this open-source alternative to popular AI chatbots like HuggingChat.
