Universal Novel Scraper (UNS) is a free, open-source desktop application designed for downloading web novels and converting them into EPUB format for easy reading. Utilizing an embedded Chromium browser, it mimics user behavior, bypassing common anti-scraping measures including Cloudflare protection. Users can download chapters automatically with progress saving, track downloads in a history panel, and navigate to the next chapter effortlessly. UNS includes a built-in library that manages EPUB files with cover art and reading progress tracking. The integrated reader features dark/light themes, fullscreen mode, and chapter navigation. Notably, it incorporates Kokoro AI, an offline text-to-speech engine, enabling users to listen to their books in natural-sounding voices from 11 different options, without requiring internet access or API keys. A community plugin system allows for easy addition of support for new websites through updated JavaScript files. Available on macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows, the application is built using Electron, React, Python, FastAPI, and Kokoro AI.
